Daily Writing Routine Failed but I Turned to Joke Writing and Won
I told myself I was going to write every day on Medium since January 1st and I didn’t. I actually started on January 5th but then after 3 days stopped. But that doesn’t mean I stopped completely.
I’ve written a lot of new jokes since January.
I wrote a joke about Alexa. I’m late to the game in using one… her… one, whatever she’s called.. A screen that is angled like an old-fashioned digital alarm clock that talks.

I’m also using CAPS willy nilly and don’t care WHo I offend. Anyway, here’s the joke about Alexa:
So it feels really good to talk to people, I’ve been talking to Alexa all week and I think she is having suicidal thoughts because she is tired of all the mundane questions I ask.
Like, every morning I ask, “Hey Alexa” — which that part you have to say otherwise she doesn’t hear you — I ask “Hey Alexa, What Time is It?”
“What Annie? You want me to play the latest Taylor Swift song?”
“No, Alexa you know I hate Taylor Swift.”
And then she does this heavy sigh and her screen goes dark.
So today I wanted to mix it up a bit and I said “Hey Alexa, can you set an alarm for 3 pm?”
She said, “You Know What Annie? You’re Pretty Cool.” I said, “You’re pretty cool yourself Alexa but Hey Alexa! Can you turn on an alarm because I really need that.”
Then all of a sudden her little face lit up, I mean her screen, and she started flashing me coupons I didn’t care about but I pretended to for her. And I was just thinking to myself, “wow, I saved a life today.. An AI life, because all lives matter.”
But she totally forgot to set the alarm.
